ABC Prepares for Angry Viewer Reaction to Jesus Special

ABC reportedly has hired extra operators to handle an expected avalanche of phone calls after it airs its one-hour special Jesus, Mary and Da Vinci tonight (Monday). The controversial special, hosted by Elizabeth Vargas, looks into questions raised by Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code, which suggests that Mary Magdalene was Jesus' wife, and that Leonardo Da Vinci alluded to such a hypothesis in his art. Today's New York Times, which described the special as "woolly and underthought," said that last-minute changes to the special were ordered late last week after ABC News execs met with a half dozen religious leaders who had previewed it.
